FATHERHOOD

I'll be honest, I am STILL learning about this topic on a daily basis. If it were a college course, sometimes I would be the Nerd of the class, while other moments I would be the student needing extra credit in order to pass the semester.

I am a Creative, an Entrepreneur, a Club head, a Dancer, and even a Hustler but once I became a Dad, I found that LIFE took on a whole new meaning. Everything I THOUGHT I WAS had to be gathered up, combined, and utilized to create a way for my daughter to live, survive and thrive and THIS, by no means, is an easy task for a dude afflicted with the "Peter Pan Syndrome...

As I embark on this journey daily, I have found that many of us men are missing out on the "secret of life" when it comes to our children. (And I am not belittling or talking down to part time or estranged Dads because I know there are many scenarios, circumstances, and situations that keep us from being where we would like to be and doing what we need to do). In fact, I can only speak for myself and my experience. Nonetheless, there is an actual "strength" that comes from raising your offspring. It comes from being there when they are first born and engaging with them when it comes to milestones like losing their first tooth, attending kindergarten, or even learning how to tie their shoes. It's a physical, mental, and spiritual strength that can only be obtained by being a "dedicated" Father. It's hard to explain but it is a power that takes you to the next "level" of manhood.

Some will argue about this theory but I can only tell you that, personally, I think, act, and perform differently which can be "chalked up" to maturity AND Fatherhood.

I encourage ALL men, whether new Daddies or seasoned Pop Pops, to get and STAY involved in their children's lives. Being a Father is more than just giving food, shelter, clothing, and money... It's about being Present and Consistent with your time and love. It's far from easy but the rewards of protecting and cultivating the greatness of your "living legacy" is more than worth trouble.

IT'S TIME TO UPDATE / RENEW / RETHINK THE PROCESS AND THE BRAND... "IMAGINE That"

It's June 2017 and it's Father's Day weekend...  It is, also, the weekend I am 

re-launching my blog, URBAN RENEWAL. Everything old is new again, it seems, and I am going back to where it all began...

I created this site on April 1, 2009, during the "boom of the blog". At one time, believe it or not, blogs were thought of as cutting edge, ground breaking, and innovational, so I created this to "jump into the fray" of wordsmiths (but, also, utilize the cost-effectiveness of promotion / marketing this platform holds).

I plan to recycle this "stage" to speak on current events, and interview people of interest.  (as I have done on other known platforms over the years) but THIS time I want to focus on key elements of our society, whether local, regional, national, or international.

Over the years, this blog has been many things to many people: a friend, a foe, informational, promotional, and more...  It has always been community based and will continue to be.

And as for me, personally, I am excited to begin, once again, down the road of knowledge, opinion, and controversy.

I, now, am issuing a WELCOME to EVERYONE who would like to FOLLOW me on this renewed journey.  

My advice, hold on to your hats because it's going to be an interesting ride!
